We have finalised the dates for the Confirmation and the Communion this school year.
The Confirmation will be held on Thursday the 15th of March at 11:30 and the Communion will be held on Saturday the 26th of May at 11:30. Both celebrations will be held in the Church of the Assumption, Walkinstown. We look forward to seeing you there.

The school will re-open on Thursday 31st of August at 9:05am for classes 3rd-6th and on the same day at 10:00am in the hall for the 2nd classes. Dublin South City partnership sponsored a talk by Paul O’Connor from “Don’t be Mean Behind Your Screen”. The boys had a very informative talk on internet safety followed by an equally informative and enlightening talk for parents. From 24th-28th of April, the Department of Education and Skills and Healthy Ireland encourage ALL schools to organise an Active School Week (ASW) as part of their annual school calendar.The ASW initiative is about providing FUN and INCLUSIVE physical activity opportunities for ALL members of the school community. It allows schools to reinforce the message that not only is physical activity good for you but it also very enjoyable.
As always, we in the castle celebrated in style. The school organised many events from “Walk a Mile Monday” to “Tug o’ War” Tuesday. All classes completed 10 minutes of exercises before each small break. The week cumulated with a visit from John Kavanagh, Conor McGregor’s coach, who gave a talk to the whole school about being active and winning. The week finished up with a whole school “10 @ 10” on the yard.
On Friday the 10th of March, Cumann na mBunscol Naisiunta held their flagship annual awards night sponsored by Cornmarket in the Killyhevlin Hotel in Enniskillen in Co. Fermanagh. This event recognises the contributions made by teachers from the entire island of Ireland to the Promotion of Gaelic Games. This year, Drimnagh Castle decided to enter the category for Large School of the Year for Promoting G.A.A. and Culture. As the school has a proud tradition of GAA and a lot of work is carried out in the school regarding promoting G.A.A. and Culture, it was a matter of putting all our work and pictures together in a presentation and entering it in to be judged. Every class was given a task to do. Some work included writing acrostic poems, researching important people in G.A.A., drawing timelines, art work etc. Everyone put a huge effort in. This went hand in hand in hand with our continued work with Hurling, Gaelic Football, Athletics and this year the addition of Handball to our skillset.
In January it was announced we were shortlisted in the top three schools in all of Ireland. A number of the staff went to represent the school at the awards and it was a great opportunity to see the wonderful work that is going on all over the country. When the time came to announce the awards there was no Oscars style mix up and the correct envelope was read out. We were presented the School of the Year Award beating out stiff competition from Kilcoole NS from Wicklow and Scoil Iosef from Limerick. It is wonderful accolade for the School and we couldn’t be prouder of all our students and staff who contributed to this award.
